David Adedeji Adeleke who we all know as Davido as a household name, was born on born November 21, 1992. He is a married Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer recognized as one of the most popular Afrobeats artists across Africa and overseas. He rose to fame in 2012 and has since released hit songs and albums. Davido is a cultural ambassador and a prominent voice in Africa. Nigerian singer Davido started making music while studying business administration at Oakwood University in the US, but he dropped out, then returned home to launch his career. Davido’s debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, mixed Afrobeats and hip hop when he began his career. He collaborated with several producers and artists including Shizzi, Jay Sleek, Maleek Berry, GospelOnDeBeatz, Spellz, Dokta Frabz, Mr. Chidoo, Theory Soundz and Shizz during his early music days. Over the years, he has featured big Afrobeats artists names like 2Baba, Naeto C, Mr. Eazi, Sina Rambo, B-Red, Kayswitch and Ice Prince. Other artists includes Chris Brown, Mi Casa, Lola Rae, Sarkodie, Diamond Platnumz, Asake and Tiwa Savage and lots more.
He has received a nomination for Album of the Year at The Headies, and for Best Album of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. Davido won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards. Additionally, Davido won Best African Act and was one of the Best Worldwide Act recipients at the MTV Europe Music Awards. He also went ahead to win Best International Act at the 2018 BET Awards.
