Ngozi Ezeonu, also known as Ngozi Ikpelue, born on May 23, 1965, is a seasoned Nigerian actress renowned for her depiction of motherly figures in Nollywood films. Her performance in the 2012 movie “Adesuwa” earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 8th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
BEFORE FAME
Originally from Ogbunike in Anambra State, Nigeria, Ngozi Ezeonu was born in Owerri to Dennis and Ezenwanyi Ikpelue, and is one of six siblings. Before rising to prominence as an actress, she pursued Journalism at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and gained experience working for Radio Lagos and Eko FM.
CAREER
While primarily recognized for her maternal roles, Ngozi Ezeonu initially portrayed younger characters at the outset of her acting journey. In 1993, esteemed director Zeb Ejiro cast her in a supporting role as Nkechi, the antagonist’s best friend, in the Igbo blockbuster “Nneka the Pretty Serpent” (1994). Shortly after, she took on the role of Thelma, a high society mistress, in “Glamour Girls” (1994). Since then, she has done more than 150 movies as a reprisal of mother figures to earn herself a household name in the Nollywood industry.

Ngozi was previously married to Edwin Ezeonu, (now her ex-husband), and their union was celebrated as one of the most beautiful couples in the country. He supports and encouragements she needed to boost her career as a seasoned actress. They have four children namely Ogechukwu Edwina, Ezeonu Chidera, Melveen Ezeonu.
The dissolution of their marriage was finalized in January 2015 at an Ikeja High Court, where Ngozi Ezeonu’s husband proposed that, given the marriage’s end, she should stop using his surname. However, it is reported that Mr Edwin and Ngozi still supports their children together.
