ABOUT
Onwuka Ugochukwu Richard we all know as Funnybros, is a Nigerian comedian, skit maker, musician and content creator born in 26 July, 2000. He is known for his comic skits he displays while wearing a red attire and holding a bicycle horn and torn “Ghana must go” bag on social media. He is also a twin.
BEFORE FAME
Funnybros Ugochukwu Onwuka Richard was born in Aba City, Abia State into the family of Elder and Madam Onwuka. His father is from Amachi Nsulu in Isiala-Ngwa North, in Abia making funnybros an Igbo by tribe from Southeastern Nigeria. Ugochukwu lost his mother to the cold hands of death when he was still very young. As at the time of writing this, he is currently studying B.Eng Computer Engineering at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (2024).
CAREER
Funnybros began his career in his local church. He discovered his passion for acting when he joined a church’s drama group in Aba. Gradually, he noticed that he enjoys funny jokes when he plays the role of a clown and other comedic performances. From there, he started creating skits and acting them out based on events happening around him. As an up coming skit maker, he encountered several setbacks and lots of criticism when he entered the entertainment industry. His career opened its first page in 2019.
Though his skits are primarily in English, he incorporates the Igbo language into them. One unique aspect of his skits is that they are always set in rural or village scenes.
When he gained some fame, he started featuring in skits with fellow content creators like Sabinus aka Mr Funny1, OGB Recent (aka cultist), AutineCruise and lots more. While still growing to become famous, Tunde Ednut a popular influencer in Nigeria re-posted his comedy skits to help him reach more audience. To show appreciation to Tunde, Funnybros Onwuka Richard donated one cow for Ednut’s 37th birthday celebration.
Still in the light of fame, Funnybros was nominated by his fans in the “Best Male Skit Maker Category” of the Legit.ng Awards 2022 but didn’t win the title. Additionally, Funnybros was featured in an article published by The Netng as one of the “Top 10 Skit Makers To Look Out For in 2023”.
