ABOUT
Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, was born on June 12, 1959, currently a Nigerian politician and former Reps member of Ezza North/Ishielu constituency of Ebonyi State in the House of Representatives. He later served as a Senator for Ebonyi Central following his election in the April 2011 national elections, running under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
BEFORE FAME
Igwe Nwagu earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He served as a Councillor for the Ezza North Local Government Council from 1990 to 1993 and later as Chairman of the Ezza North Local Government Area from 1999 to 2002. He was also the Secretary-General of the Igbo Union in Balogun Market, Lagos, between 1983 and 1988.
CAREER
Nwagu Igwe Paulinus represented Ishielu constituency of Ebonyi’s Ezza North in the House of Representatives from April 2007, under the PDP. He chaired the House Committee on Rural Development. In 2009, he faced arrest by the EFCC over alleged involvement in a N5.2 billion electric power scam.
Later, he won the PDP primaries for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat in January 2011 and secured victory in the April 2011 election. He declared his intention to run for governor of Ebonyi State in May 2022 but lost in the PDP primaries to Obinna Ogba from Ebonyi Central.
